Governor Ishaku present cheques 500,000 to 7 primaries and secondary schools in Taraba
Presenting the cheques to Headmaster and principal of various schools in Jalingo, Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku represented by the secretary to the state Government, SSG, Mr Anthony Jallason said the distribution of cheques to primary and secondary schools in the state as grants from the world Bank under the state Education program Investment project, is to enable them carryout execution of minor projects in the schools.
He said when Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku administration came on board in 2015, one of the challenges that confronted his administration was the deplorable state of the state educational institutions, especially the primary and secondary schools in the state.
Ishaku took it upon himself to reverse the situation to make learning and teaching in Taraba schools very comfortable by improving on the schools environment.
The Governor within short periods constructed new classroom blocks and renovated dilapidated once across the sixteen local government areas with support from the universal Basic Education Commission and Furniture, instructional materials and computer sets, Accessories in Taraba.
He said his administration in a bid to arrest the manpower needs of the schools employed 3000 qualified graduates, HND and NCE holders to take Taraba state to the next level of Education within the limit of it resources.
The Governor warns Headmasters and principles of the respective schools for the mismanagement the grant and ask them to utilized the grant to attract additional grants.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Commissioner Ministry of Education, Mr Johannes Jigen Commended governor Ishaku for his resilient in putting the educational institutions to standard in the state.
Johannes Jigen said schools selected for the first phase of the grants include Ardo Kola, Bali, Karim LAMIDO, Sarduana, Takum, Wukari and Zing local government respectively.
