Police in northern Tanzania are hunting for a self-proclaimed ‘prophet’ after more than 20 people died during a stampede early Sunday when worshippers surged forward to be ‘blessed’ by ‘holy oil.’

The stampede happened after the pastor of the church Boniface Mwamposa poured what he termed as ‘holy oil’ on the floor and asked members to rush to have a feel of it.

Believing in the prowess of the man of God, members rushed to touch the “holy oil” pastor Boniface Mwamposa poured on the floor.

Unfortunately, there was no orderliness in their attempt to get a feel of the ‘holy oil’ causing a stampede which has left 20 people dead with many others injured.
