A couple identified has Joshua Aworo and Mercy Ogieva have been arrested by men of the Anti Human Trafficking of the Edo State Police Command.
The mother of the baby, Mercy, who have other three children with Joshua said they are not legally married.
Ms Mercy narrating how it all started said she travelled to Lagos to visit her relatives after a dispute with her lover, while in Lagos State, she called Joshua to announced the good news that she’s pregnant, but the man who was angry rejected the pregnancy on the ground of infidelity.

Mercy upon her return from Lagos approached a lady one Ms Felicia Imaguomwanwo who promised to take care of the pregnancy and buy the baby after delivery.
The ideal to sell the baby was brought to the knowledge of the supposed father who then consented to the idea, Mercy gave birth in one of the clinics in Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City, and the baby was bought same day for the agreed sum of N300,000.

The said N300,000 was handed over by Felicia to the supposed father of the baby Joshua Aworo, but trouble started when the mother of the baby requested for her part of the money to start her business, the man was then able to produce just N28,000 out of the initial N300,000 that was given to him.
The mother of the baby thereafter reported her lover to the police, upon an extensive investigation by men of the Anti Human Trafficking of the Edo State Police Command the baby was rescued and recovered from Ms Felicia, the buyer.
The police then arrested the couple and the buyer, the baby who is now two months old is presently in one of the orphanages in the State.
