A highly placed source has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 2019 Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has moved in to protect Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, from immediate impeachment, as the National Assembly resumes.

The source said: “Atiku has many of his men and women in the Senate and House of Representatives; he has started talking to them to stand for Saraki and Dogara.

“The struggle for the control of the National Assembly, is beyond what happens between now and May 2019; it is what would happen when the 9th Assembly would be inaugurated.

“The PDP would want to have majority in both Chambers, because that is the only way Atiku would have a smooth sail, when he wins the Presidential election.”

It would be recalled that the APC had advised Saraki and Dogara to vacate their seats and allow for the reconvening of the National Assembly, to attend to urgent and pressing national issues.

The source added: “You need to understand that the party cannot back down on the move to remove Saraki and Dogara, if they fail to leave honourably.

It is not possible for members of the minority party to continue to preside over the majority party. Within the next 48-hours, the party’s position on the issue will be made known. But let us see how far Atiku can go.”
