Recent reports by The Standard suggest that Kembo Mohadi, the Zimbabwean Vice President, yesterday attacked his former wife Tambudzai Mohadi.
The VP is reported to have grabbed three cars which are among other property courts gave to Tambudzai when they divorced. Tambudzai said:
All the cars he took were awarded to me by the court at his instance.
The VP is reported to have used an axe to break doors at 108 Impala Drive, their matrimonial house. He also allegedly threatened to shoot her, but, was restrained by his aide.
Tambudzai indicates that more than 25 police officers witnessed the incident. No arrests were made. Rather, the police are reported to have urged her to report the case at a police station. Tambudzai said:
The police said I must go and report, but they were witnesses to what happened. They saw him commit this crime.
A police source said that Tambudzai did not resist the VP. Only a lady believed to be Mohadi’s daughter is reported to have continuously asked him to stop acting childishly. The VP is reported to have said that Tambudzai was disrespecting him. Tambudzai, however, indicated that the VP came unprovoked. She said:
He came here unprovoked and demanded to collect his clothes before breaking the doors at the cottage where he collected nothing…
Report by residents of the suburb in question agree with that of the VP’s former wife.
Tambudzai was earlier this year divorced by the VP despite her efforts to block the separation.
