The administrator of the national judicial council (NJI), Hon.Justice Rosaline Bozimo on Monday enjoined court employees to submit to the dictates of code of conduct in the discharge of their daily activities.
Bozimo gave this directive in her welcome address at the opening of ceremony of the 2019 national workshop for Chief registrars, Deputy chief registrars, Directors and Secretaries of judicial service commission held in Abuja.
The theme of the workshop is: Promoting efficiency in judicial administration.
Represented by the Chief Justice of Plateau State, Hon. Justice Dawak, the NJI administrator said that the workshop was organized in fulfillment of its mandate to conduct and facilitate continuing judicial education for all categories of judicial officers and their support staff.
She said, “This workshop aims to facilitate the development and refinement of your skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for effective justice administration and overall improvement of knowledge and performance.
“My Lords, distinguished participants, permit me to remind you that your actions affect the course of justice. Going by the nature of your job, you are the backbone of the courts and a huge burden is placed on your shoulders to maintain a high level of professionalism and discipline in discharging your duties,” she added.
Explaining further, Bozimo re-emphasized that the ethics of the profession must not be discarded by judicial employees, saying that they must adhere to judicial ethics and the relevant code of conduct in line of duty.
“I counsel you to avail yourselves the opportunity of participating in all the sessions as we have ensured that the contents of materials are astute and in line with global best practice,” the NJI administrator added.
One of the participants from Oyo state and a Deputy chief registrar in charge of litigation and enforcement Mrs Olusola Adetijoye hailed the NJI move, saying that the workshop would help improve and promote her efficiency and performance as judicial officer.
