Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said the body of Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen has been found at his home inside an underground water tank after 40 days of reportedly missing

“Members of the family have already identified the body as that of Tob Cohen,” DCI Kinoti said.

According to correspondent from Citizen TV, when they arrived at the home in Kitisuru, detectives had already pulled out the body and put it in a cadaver pouch.

It was later carried into an awaiting police vehicle.

Lawyer Philip Murgor who is representing Cohen’s estranged wife Susan Wairimu, said the body was found tied up, in bad shape.

He however questioned how the DCI had found out about the location of the body.

Cohen’s employees had earlier told police that the last time they saw Mr. Cohen was on July 20.

According to them, the 71-year-old had left in a white car, carrying only a briefcase.

However, reports indicate that the two employees could have been coached to lie to the police as they were never in the compound on the day of the incident.

Sarah Wairimu Cohen was arrested on August 28 and interrogated at the DCI headquarters.

She was arraigned in court the next day and detained for 12 days.

Despite appealing the court’s decision to detain her, the judge ordered that she remain in police custody until September 12.

On Thursday this week, Sarah Wairimu was again arraigned in court to face murder charges but did not take plea.

The court ordered that she undergo a mental assessment. She is the prime suspect in the case.

Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen was a tour and travel magnate who had been living in Kenya since 1987.

He and Wairimu were reportedly embroiled in a bitter divorce case which saw him file assault charges against her a week before he went missing.

“Around midnight, as he was standing on top of the stairs leading to the garden, Sarah suddenly pushed him downstairs, causing our client to fall and seriously injure his forehead,” court papers read.

Wairimu has no children from her marriage to the late Cohen but the couple had an adopted daughter.
