Bello Audu ’Yellow’, accused of being the mastermind of kidnappings on Abuja-Kaduna road has been arrested by the Nigerian police.
The kidnap suspect who spoke in Hausa in a video recording, confessed to more than 50 kidnappings and killings as well as receiving ransoms as much as N10m. The father of five whose gang members are in police custody was arrested by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the police.
”My name is Dala Audu, I’m 40 years old. I have two wives and five children. I have collected ransom up to N10 million – sometimes N700,000, N600,000 and N900,000,” he said.
”We operate on Abuja road up to refinery in Kaduna. We bought AK 47s from Alhaji Turowa who is at Kajuru (local government area of Kaduna state).
”We have killed many people.”
Recall that the Abuja-Kaduna road became a dangerous spot for travellers who opted to travel by rail to their different locations, a development which led to increased pressure on the train stations in Abuja and Kaduna.
