A fake female soldier who uses her late husband’s military camouflage to defraud unsuspecting members of the public and also carry out illegal activities has been arrested by the Nigerian army in Edo State.

The suspect identified as Angela Maidoki was arrested by operatives of 4 Brigade Command of the Nigeria Army in Benin while escorting smuggled vehicles. Upon interrogation, the fake female soldier confessed that her late husband was a lance corporal in the Nigerian Army until his demise in 2017 in Maiduguri while fighting Boko Haram. She has already been handed over to the police.

“The money I get ranges from N8000 to N15,000 depending on the vehicle.

“I bought this uniform. If you look carefully, it is different from the real military uniform” the mother of five said.

Parading the suspect before newsmen, Edo State Police spokesperson DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said she will be charged to court when the investigation has been concluded.
