Spread the love
What appears to be the first-ever love election that took place in Bauchi State has been cancelled by the ‘Supreme court’ due to irregularities.
Inusa had won the election
We told you of a love contest involving two young men–Inusa and Ibrahim– who were both dying for a beautiful girl, Khadija who was equally confused on whom to settle for. Read here
To settle the matter, Khadija consulted the Elders in Giade Local Government Area of the State and it was agreed that the young men would have to settle it on the ballot.
After the results were collated, Inusa emerged winner after polling the highest number of votes, and he was to go home with his wife-to-be.
But Ibrahim, dissatisfied with the conduct of the election, which he described as “Time premature election”, challenged the result, filing a petition that the election that brought Inusa as a candidate that will marry Khadija was marred by irregularities.
After careful examination of Ibrahim’s complaints, which included that the election was conducted when most of his supporters—who are public servants—were in office, the Giade Elders Committee nullified the election of Inusa as the “Suitor-elect” to marry Khadija.
The rerun will hold Saturday
The judgement which was delivered on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 10:15am nullified the election of suitor-elect, Inusa and ordered a new election to be conducted in seven days.
The ruling held that the election was not in line with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria which states that elections in all part of the country must hold on Saturday.
A fresh election was ordered to take place next Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Giade Town, Bauchi state.
