Nigerian music legend and reggae king Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, is dead.
He was 57.
His death was confirmed by his manager Omenka Uzoma, on the late singer’s official Instagram handle.
“I’ve been having pressure calls from all over, yes it is true that the legend has gone to meet with the Lord. But this time I want to say we should all celebrate him, his achievements, he has done a lot for Nigeria, Africa and whatever the family decides will get to you, he said.

Majek Fashek, born in Benin-City, Edo state, took Nigeria’s music industry in the 80s by storm.
He is best known for the 1988 album Prisoner of Conscience, which included the multiple award-winning single “Send Down the Rain.”

He has worked with various artists worldwide, including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.
The reggae star’s last video was uploaded on his Instagram handle a month ago.
In the video, Majek, who has been having health challenges over the years, mustered strength to add his voice to the ongoing public awareness campaign by Nigerian celebrities on the need to fight the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.

May his soul rest in peace
