Omotola Ayokanmi, a 47-year-old man who unlawfully presented himself as a legal practitioner at a federal high court in Abeokuta on July 16, has been sentenced to three years in prison for impersonation.
Ayokanmi was accused of appearing before the federal high court as a counsel to move an application for bail.
Fortune Akhenegor, a police inspector and the prosecution counsel said;
“The judge found fault in his address to the court which made the judge interrogate him.
“He later confessed that he only had a diploma in law and had never been called to the bar. He confessed that he had been using his wife‘s gown who was called to bar in 2006, but not practising. The defendant has been practising since 2007.”
