A video on social media captured the moment an African migrant was been assaulted by his Maltese boss.
According to the narrative in the video, the problem started after his boss paid him €250, obviously, the man was expecting much more than what he was paid.
It was not stated in the video the type of job the migrant did, but from the narrative, it is clear that it was a black job because the boss in defence of his horrible behaviour said ‘one time you said you went to sign’ apparently he was referring to his immigration status because in most European countries immigrants are requested to sign at the immigration office once or twice in a month depending on the country or the reasons for the application.
The boss behaving in a very uncivilized manner said the migrant had initially told him he was going to report him at the police station, so he should go and report, knowing that the young man may not have a working permit.
“You are given me 250 as if am begging you for money, I worked for you, you’ll pay me my money, if you have a conscience you’ll pay me my money,” said the migrant repeatedly.
“I don’t have a conscience, you told me you are going to police station, go!” replied his Maltese boss.
Minutes into the video the boss, his father and some other people said to be workers in the company tried to pull out the migrant from the compound but he resisted and his shirt got tore in the process.
It was not stated in the video the type of job the migrant did, but from the narrative, it is clear that it was a black job.
At some point, the boss changed the story saying “You came to steal inside here, and I catch you, this is what I will tell the police ”.
The African migrant who sounded more like a Nigerian said he worked for the man for 21 days from 6 am to 4 or 5 pm, “I need justice” said the migrant who was exhausted and unhappy.
The Facebook user from Maltese who shared the video on social media, expressed his disappointed and condemned the act stating it was a act of racism and exploitation.
Absolutely sickening. This kind of racism and exploitation makes me ashamed to be Maltese.
