Some very defiant #EndSARS protesters have taken over the Airport Road in Abuja.

The youths on Friday kept vigil at the Airport Road in Abuja to push home their demands, The Nation reports.

The protesters, who had been there since morning, caused traffic gridlocks that stretched for kilometres.

It was a massive crowd as the protesters, who said they were having a festival of light, held up candlelights and their phone lights to honour victims of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

They said they were going to spend the night there and all of Saturday until Sunday.

It was gathered some pastors have decided to visit them there and preach to them as well as identify with their struggle.

The gridlock caused by the protesters, it was gathered, caused a lot of intending travellers to miss their flights at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as well as other important engagements.

Also, residents who lived along the Airport Road axis of Abuja were stuck and could not get home.

Benefiting from the situation were food vendors and petty traders who flooded the protest ground to sell.

Also, commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada, took advantage of the gridlock to hike their fares.

Trips that usually cost N100 were charged for as much as N500, it was observed.

It was also observed that some group of persons brought musical instruments to play while they tarried.
