”No money Osun state wants to make in the next 30-40 years that my dad hasn’t made”- Davido

4

Davido says there is no amount of money Osun state can make in 30-40 years that his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, hasn’t made.

The 27-year-old singer who is gearing up for his wedding to his lover Chioma, said this in an interview with MTV Base TV host, Ehiz, yesterday September 4th. He explained why he was away from Nigeria for many months after his Uncle, Ademola Adeleke lost in the Osun state governorship election.

With the whole politics thing it was first about family. Honestly, it was first about family. I was in Osun with my guys. We saw everything in plain sight. Let me tell you a story about my uncle. My uncle is the last born of the family. The original politician of the family is Serubawon, my father’s elder brother.

“He was the first governor of Osun state; came back then went for senator you know when everybody for the state knows that this is the next governor and then we just woke up one day and they said he went to eat somewhere and he died.

“Yoruba culture when somebody holds an office and he passes on they either give the bride or the close relatives. The next in line is B red’s daddy and he is just a happy person. He doesn’t like politics but when you lose your brother everybody knows what’s up. With that, they wanted to give my uncle automatically.

“A day to them swearing him in as senator, they said no we want to do re-election, another guy has come up and my father doesn’t like wahala so he said let’s go to the other party if we lose we pack our thing and go. The next day we did election my uncle cleared 16 out of 17 local government areas.

“He became a senator in just a week. His own journey to winning that governorship primary election was out of sight that was how we knew this one nah God.

“It was painful and will tell everybody here that was the real reason I was not even in the country because of the politics. I have to watch what I say. If I was around he no go dey OK for me and my people. So I had to be a man and say look let me stay away.

“We have Adeleke University all the roads that lead was done by my father. There’s no money Osun wants to make in the next 30 to 40 years that my father has not made. The way things turned out was crazy”.

He tweeted, “Aunty @obyezeks you’re properly very educated but unfortunately you failed to understand that those who are being attacked in SA, where you’re at the moment, are also private citizens, we all thought you’d sympathize with them and boycott the @wef to properly protest the attacks.”

However the attention of Twitter users were drawn to Emir Sanusi’s tweet of delivering a speech at Africa in the World Conference in Stellenberg, South Africa. Photos of Governors Kayode Fayemi and Nasir El-Rufai attending same event with the Kano Monarch also led to an outcry on the social media platform.

South African Protests Spread to Cape Town Over Murders of Women

42

All week long, hundreds of demonstrators have been protesting South Africa’s high rate of violence against women.

The protesters blocked the entrance to the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town as the event got underway on Wednesday. The protest was triggered by the recent murder of 19-year-old University of Cape Town student, Uyinene Mrwetyana.

According to a report by Bloomberg, police data shows that a woman is murdered every three hours in South Africa.

The killing of Mrwetyana, who was raped and bludgeoned to death at a post office in an upmarket suburb of Cape Town, followed the murder of champion boxer Leighandre Jegels, 25, who was allegedly shot by an ex-boyfriend who had a restraining order against him.

Before that, there was Meghan Cremer, an avid horse rider who was allegedly killed by three men as she left her farm outside of Cape Town.

More than a thousand people were involved in the protest, bearing placards including one that simply said: “Stop Killing Us.” On social media, women called for action and suggested ideas including carrying pepper spray and taking self-defence classes, to imposing a curfew on men.

The protesters had gathered twice during the day, security teams moved to put up fencing around the conference center’s entrances and shut down all but one access point. This meant rerouting WEF delegates and discouraging them from gathering at windows to look at the action in the street.

The president took to Twitter on Tuesday night in more than a dozen tweets, imploring citizens to help battle the scourge of violence and femicide

80

Samson Siasia, the former Super Eagles’ Chief Coach on Wednesday, September 4th in Abuja said he has appealed against the life ban slammed on him by world football governing body, FIFA.

Siasia told newsmen that his lawyers filed the appeal to FIFA on August 27, while another appeal was filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on August 29. He denied any involvement in any illegal act, such as match-fixing, saying he was well aware they are contrary to the ethics of the football sport.

“I wish to state that I have never been and would never be a party to any form of unethical conduct or perversion in the discharge of my duties in any capacity. I built my career in the football industry on the foundation of hard work, integrity, consistency and God.

“In all my career, I have done nothing but serve my country and clubs to the best of my personal and professional ability, with all my strength and might, with discipline, pride and passion and an awareness that it is a privilege to be an ambassador of our great nation.

“It is my greatest hope and belief that my country also stands by and with me at a time like this,” the former Super Eagles forward said.

He said the entire proceedings and decision were only brought to his notice on August 16th saying, “that was when the news broke in the public domain and friends and family started to call. I was totally unaware of the proceedings until I heard about FIFA’s decision’.

“While I may not be able to publicly divulge the details and specifics, of the appeal, I think it fit to inform you that I have appealed against FIFA’s Decision and you all will probably hear the results as you heard about the ban. “I am currently taking legal advice. My lawyer, Austin Otah, has been liaising with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and its counsel,” he said.

Siasia who also played for Nigeria at the youth level also expressed his gratitude to all Nigerians.

“I thank everyone who has supported me in one way or the other. I must state that this is the most trying period of my life. I am still dealing with the pains and challenges of my mother being kidnapped again and fighting to secure her release.

I urge the nation to support me with prayers, goodwill and support of all kind. The demands are very heavy,” he said, struggling to control a surge of emotions.

Pastor dies while fasting for 30 days

A 37-year-old Zambian pastor has died, 10 days to the end of a 30-day fasting program.

Pastor Brighton Samajomba of “Heaven Is My Home” of Kazomba Township of Solwezi was reportedly found dead by his wife in the early hours of the 20th day of his 30-day fasting programme of standing in the gap for his family and church members.

The death of Pastor Samajomba was confirmed by his brother Reagan Samajomba in Solwezi yesterday in a telephone interview.

However, his brother said Pastor Samajomba who led a lifestyle of taking on many days of prayer and fasting programmes, started his fasting on his yearly August fast on 8th with a view to pray for his family and church members.

Mr Samajomba told the Zambian Sun that, Pastor Samanjomba took on many other yearly 90 days fasting programmes during which he only had a single meal in the evening each August.

“I would say he died in the early hours because my sister and his wife were there and took turns to check on him, and then it was time for my in-law to check on him, she was with him according to her till midnight,

“Then she decided to rest, when she woke up, they had a tendency of sharing dreams with each other as partners. So she dreamt of something and wanted to tell the husband.

But as she tried to shake him up, he was not responding and so he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“The only consolation that we have as a family is the way he died because he was in the closet with the Lord,” Reagan said

[VIDEO[ ‘I was kidnapped by SARS operatives last night, taken to Lagos Island and made to exhaust my ATM allowance or they would have killed me’ – Rapper, Ikechukwu

7

Veteran Nigerian rapper, Ikechukwu has just shared his sad experience with SARS operatives in Lagos.

Narrating his ordeal, the rapper said, ‘I was kidnapped by sars lastnight. Two mins away from my house, taken to lagos island and made to exhaust my atm allowance or i would be killed and no one would know’.

Not by armed robbers. But when u are robbed and they are armed fully, 5 ak-47’s. Blows to the head and bundled into a vehicle.

Isn’t it the same thing. And then after you will now tell me our government is working. Things are in place. Bla bla. Let me tell u now straight up. I dont care who you are, if you are rolling solo in this town and sars get you. Day or night. If they get ur phone. Its over for you.

They dont have names or numbers on their uniforms. They literally said to me “na you burn this our hilux here yesterday abii”. Acting like they didnt know who I was and were gonna rope me in anything they felt or do with me what they would. After collecting all the money in lagos island they start laughing telling me i’m too stubborn that when will i introduce them to don jazzy. Oh so u know me. One even bragged about working alot with wazobiafm.

Thanx for that info at least now i have a point to start my own investigation. I could’ve been shot and left in the dark space on that dark road. No ID no phone. Who would ID me. Who would be looking for me for days?

Afterall my people saw me enter uber heading home. On the island. Shey i’m safe. Good morning. Its a good day to be alive. I don’t even know what hashtag to put sef. Its ok. I recorded a video initially from when I got home last night but it was too long and it made me cry again. So i just said lemme just yan straight no need for in the moment.

Just the facts. We are not safe. End of story. Know as u dey take move.
