A Univerity of his, UNIJOS student, Mercy Naan, who was declared missing some days ago has been found dead in her hostel.
The 23-year-old student was declared missing by her parents, but the Plateau State Police Command has confirmed her death, Daily Post reports.
DSP Tyopev Matthias Terna, the State Police Command spokesman, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday said the police received a distress call from the Security Department, University of Jos that on the same date, some students of the institution raised the alarm over an unusual odour coming out from Room number 23 Zion Hostel in Naraguta, University of Jos.
He said that the suspected hostel door was forced opened and the motionless body of the 200 level student from the Department of Marketing was seen and recovered to the University Clinic.
According to him, the student was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty at the University Clinic and her corpse deposited at the Anatomy Mortuary of the same University for Autopsy.
The Spokesman added that the detectives of the Plateau State Police Command have since commenced investigation to unravel the mystery behind the unfortunate death.
